The main goal is to knock over as many kubbs as possible at a distance of 8m with 30 batons.
Rules of the game
- You play alone on a lawn in your own garden or nearby. The dimensions are 8m (length) by 5m (width). It is allowed to play on a smaller field (eg a width of 4m instead of 5m) if you have a small garden.
- We strongly recommend playing on real grass (if possible) and not on artificial grass or other smooth surfaces as this is not fair to your opponents.
- You must LIVE STREAM your match in the specially created Facebook page "Virtual Kubb 8m Tournament" at the time assigned to you by the organisation. Try to place the camera directly in front or right behind you (see instruction video below). You can choose the session and hours you want to play in on the registration page.
- You play a total of 5 rounds (+ maybe a bonus round).
- Each round you throw 6 batons to 5 kubbs placed at 8m.
- A horizontal rotation of the stick (helicopter throw) is not allowed (tolerance limit: 45 degree angle) and does not count as a point. Every throw should be as straight as possible. Play fair!
- If you knock over 2 (or more) kubbs with 1 baton, this only counts for 1 point. Immediately straighten the second (or more) fallen kubb(s) and continue playing.
- If you knock over the 5 kubbs with the first 5 batons in each round, you throw the 6th baton at the king standing at 4m.
- For every king-shot (missed or knocked over) you get a baton in the bonus round that you play after your 5 rounds.
- If you knock over everything and don't miss anything you can reach the maximum of 30pnt.
- The organization (jury) will follow your match live and record the score, but don't forget to play a bonus round if you have a right to it.
Tournament schedule
Below is an example of what the rankings can look like:
- In total there will be 8 sessions of 2 hours + the play-offs spread over 3 days (see the registered players page for an overview of all sessions)
- During each session, maximum 8 players come into action with a time span of 15min for each player. Eg. Session 1 starts on Friday May 15 at 6pm. The first player starts at 6 pm, the second player at 6:15 pm, third player at 6:30 pm, ....,
- After each session, the rankings are drawn up or updated and put online. Your placement in the ranking is determined according to the following descending criteria:
- Number of knocked over kubbs at 8m.
- Number of kings knocked over.
- Most number of knocked over kubbs in a row.
- If, after these 3 criteria, there is still a tie between one or more players, the one with the fastest time in which they have finished their match will prevail.
- After eight sessions we have a final ranking. The top-8 of the final classification will play the play-offs on Sunday evening from 6 pm. Each player plays another match (5 turns in 15min). These points are added to the points from their first game, after which we can draw up a definitive final ranking!
